This custom sauna was built for a private residence on Koh Samui, installed inside an existing room that opens to an unobstructed ocean view. The compact footprint — 2200 × 1600 mm — made the most of the available space without sacrificing the feeling of a proper sauna.
The interior is lined throughout in teak, chosen for both its natural resilience in Koh Samui's humid, coastal climate and its warm, rich tone. A small L-shaped bench was configured to fit the room precisely, giving bathers a comfortable reclining position while keeping the layout uncluttered.
Heat is provided by a 9 kW sauna heater with Wi-Fi controls, so the sauna can be brought up to temperature from a phone before the owner even steps inside. For a home on a tropical island, that kind of convenience matters.
