What’s the difference between infrared and traditional sauna heating?
Traditional stove heaters heat the air to high temperatures (70-90°C) and allow you to create steam by pouring water on hot stones – the classic Finnish sauna experience. Infrared panels use far-infrared rays to heat your body directly at lower air temperatures (40-65°C), providing a gentler heat that some find more comfortable. The Teelak lets you choose either method or combine both.
Can I use the Teelak outdoors?
Yes, the Teelak is designed for both indoor and outdoor installation. For outdoor use, we recommend the Red Cedar timber option for its superior weather resistance. Position the sauna on a level, stable surface with adequate drainage and consider a covered location to extend its lifespan.
What’s the advantage of the hybrid system?
The hybrid system gives you complete flexibility. Use infrared for quick, gentle sessions when you’re short on time. Switch to the traditional stove for an authentic Finnish experience with steam. Or combine both for the ultimate sauna session – infrared warmth with the ability to create löyly. It’s two saunas in one.
How long does it take to heat up?
In infrared mode, the unit reaches operating temperature in 10-15 minutes. Traditional stove heating takes 25-45 minutes, depending on the size and desired temperature. This makes the Teelak ideal for both spontaneous sessions and planned sauna rituals.
What’s the difference between the wood options?
Hemlock is a light-coloured softwood with excellent insulation, minimal scent, and good moisture resistance – a cost-effective choice that performs well. Red Cedar offers a richer reddish-brown colour, aromatic odour, and superior natural resistance to moisture and outdoor conditions. For outdoor installation, we recommend Red Cedar.
What’s included with my sauna?
Every Teelak Hybrid Sauna comes complete with: tempered glass door, far-infrared carbon panels, explosion-proof interior light, digital controller, wooden bucket and water scoop, temperature gauge, sand timer, door handle, and installation manual. The electric stove heater is available as an add-on.
Do I need an electrician?
We strongly recommend having a licensed electrician connect your sauna. The sauna requires a dedicated electrical circuit, and professional installation ensures safety and compliance with local regulations.
